Our Work
Intel Me InTru 3D

Background
Since introducing the first microprocessor to the world in 1971, Intel has been the standard bearer of technological advancement. When the time came to promote InTru 3D, the company’s newest innovation, Intel turned to Buddy Media for their industry leading social media strategy and development expertise.
Intel’s goal was to spur widespread adoption of a Facebook application that would generate awareness of Intel’s new cinematic 3D technology. The tech giant wanted a robust, multi-feature application that would attract a wide audience of users with customizable user-generated content, social actions, and game play. Buddy Media promised an engaging experience designed to deliver social advocates who would evangelize the brand through frequent activity on Intel’s Me InTru 3D social media application.
Objectives
- Build an engaging Facebook app-vertisement to promote Intel InTru 3D technology Facebook
- Revolutionize ‘character creator’ technology to animate avatars in virtual 3D
- Develop animated social overtures to spur viral application growth
- Create contextually relevant mini-games to increase application adoption and engagement
Solution
Buddy Media’s Innovations Team jumped at the chance to pitch concepts and strategy to the tech giants at Intel and were quick to get approval on a development plan. Character and avatar creators have been making the rounds for many years and several shops have made forays into making the idea social. Buddy Media took the concept and gave it a blast of InTru 3D. Thus, the Intel Creature Creator was born. The application, which launched with basic functionality in place on February 1st allows users to design their own 3D creatures – from the tips of their pointy horns to the bottom of their hairy feet. Rather than just dragging and dropping flat 2D elements onto a paper-doll template, Me InTru 3D gives users a 360 degree view of their creation. All physical characteristics are fully editable and even stretch and warp to fit the contours of the three dimensional creatures.
The Creature Creator is only a gateway to a much more robust app-vertisement. Once users have finished customizing their monster in the Intel labs, they’ll have several social options for interacting with their Facebook friends. The app includes two minigames that will challenge both mind and reflexes. Social overtures allow users to send an animated version of their creature to friends, after which the recipient is treated to funky dance steps, hugs and kisses, or even more bizarre and dastardly actions. An in-app minicam even allows users to take pictures of their creations, so that they can post them as their Facebook profile photos. The end result? Buddy Media created a robust and engaging social app-vertisement designed to intimately tie the Intel brand name to groundbreaking 3D technology.
